An Awfully Big Adventure – Elekk Plushie Achievement

This lengthy achievement is a world wide adventure for interested Pet Battlers.  It will take you to every continent and every Tamer with higher than level 19 pets.  That’s a grand total of 44 tamers!  It’s quite a fun ride and exploring the wide world of Azeroth and beyond with your adorable Elekk Plushie!

Garrison Menagerie and Elekk Plushie pet!

Garrison Menagerie and Elekk Plushie pet!

I am going to break this down by continent as that’s generally how people will complete it the most efficient way.  A lot of the battles are extremely easy if you have a decent stable of level 25 pets that I will just list <any two level 25 pets> as the possible team.  Alternatively, some battles are on the more difficult/tricky side that I decided they needed a video to help explain the strategy and sometimes pets need to be a certain breed.  They will be listed in-line.  Everything you need to complete the achievement is here on this page.  The numbers listed after each pet is which ability they take for the battle.  1 or 2 based on each choice in each slot.

Now let’s begin!

Click on the names below to take you to the correlating section of this page.

(note:  A lot of the older content Tamers were strategies I’ve used for over a year, taken from Warcraft Pets user forums.  A couple of the Celestial Tournament tamers were re-works of 3-pet strategies on Wowhead and worked into 2 pet ones.  The Draenor Tamers and some Celestial Tamers are all my own strategies.)

  1. Hi there, I appreciate the clearly immense work that you put into making this guide but you may want to double check some of the ability combinations you have listed. Both of the listed Darkmoon trainer ability lineups are suggesting what appears to be some pretty “odd” ability combinations but when I inverted the suggestions, (second ability to first ability, etc) I was able to finish off both trainers without a hitch.

Granted i could have been just pioneering strange, new strategies but before I declared myself to be some kind of mad genius, it seemed logical to double check that these ability lists were accurate.

Thanks again for the guide! Looking forward to grinding out Trunks when WoD goes live and using this as my go-to resource when I get stuck.

    Reply
    • I used my addon Rematch to list the abilities and it very well could be that… the addon wasn’t listing them right. I’ll go back through the regular Journal and see. Thanks for the heads up!

edit: Wow, yeah, it was absolutely the addon Rematch that messed me up!

edit #2; It’s fixed now – thanks again. The Addon Rematch has every single pet ability switched. I’ll never make the mistake of assuming a third party app has it right again!

  2. Hi,

Nice list. Gonna use this for the ach…
But just one question: Are you gonna link all of the other tamer strat aswell?

Thank you for this list / guide.

    Best Regards,

    Rosterus

    Reply
    • Yes- I am still writing it. It will all be up and ready to go by next Thursday (even though it’s not quite possible to do right away, as the Elekk plushies won’t start being made for at the very least 5 days. 🙂 )

      Reply
  3. how do you make the wastewalker shu combination work?

    Reply
    • Did you read the detailed fight information? It’s all listed there how to do it 🙂

(I edited it for a little more clarity just now!)

      Reply
      • The fight information does not make sense. Pounder does not have a whirlpool ability. Please clarify the strat. Thanks.

        Reply
        • Yes but there is 1 Whirlpool left that you need to use Cocoon Strike to avoid when Pounder comes out 😉

          Reply
          • Yes, I see that, but if you look again it states to keep avoiding whirlpool until Pounder is dead. I was just confused is all. I’m assuming avoid Pounder’s abilities with cocoon until he is dead as well?

          • No you don’t need to – just using Skitter and your Nature’s Touch heal is enough. The Red Cricket is so insanely great at this fight he will last all the way til the Crab. It’s just faster to use Skitter+heal vs. Pounder — but you can Cocoon if you want of course. It’s just a few extra turns to an already long fight (in fact, it’s so long I just skip it altogether on the daily rounds lol)

  4. Does the pet just have to be on the team to get the achievement, or does it have to take a round (as it does when youre leveling pets)? If it needs to be “fighting” for one round, would you mind adding when to switch out? Otherwise, ignore this and thanks for an excellent guide!

    Reply
  5. Regarding Majore Payne I could not get your choice to work. I finally got it to work with Iron Starlette 1, 2, 2 and Electrified Razortooth 2, 2, 2. On the bear use Toxic Smoke and then Wind-Up twice (hopefully you won’t get stunned.) When Beakmaster comes out you want to Explode. With Electrified Razortooth you want to Jolt and Lightning Sheild (Beakmaster kills himself.) You want to save a Lightning Shield CD for Bloom. With Bloom use Blood in the Water and then Lightning Shield. On my fight both the ER and Bloom died in the same round.

    Reply
    • I’m sorry you couldn’t figure it out!! My strat works – it’s tried and true from Warcraftpets.com and has been used successfully for well over a year.

      Reply
      • Hi,

first thank you for putting this up – its (most of the times) helpful and a valid source.

But I also have enormous problems with Payne.

When I switch to the robot, the bear heals completely (due to grenade and minefield), so beating him down takes several moves, where he rampages the robot quite badly.

When then the robotchicken comes out, my robot does not live very long (especially it gets stunned almost all the time).

So the critter must do the rest with getting at least 1-2 hits, meaning also its already quite hurt when the last comes out.

It seems that all the “Can hit 1-3 times” means for me “hits 3 times” etc.

So I never managed to succeed.

Is there a special breed prefered for the critter ? Is full speed needed – full power or any other tip ?

        Thanks

        Reply
        • You have to follow the directions to the letter. I just did this for my Achievement last week and it works perfectly. S/S Cottontail. You just *never* use anything but an S/S for any rabbit, just ever.

          Reply
          • Just did this with Elfin Rabbit and Blue Clockwork Rocket bot. Worked first try!

          • Maybe mention the fact that you need S/S then? Considering every other breed specific part of this guide says when it needs that breed, it’s kind of dumb to post a strategy that needs S/S but doesn’t mention it needs S/S. The strategy utterly fails without S/S.

          • Added. In all honesty I thought it was listed. But the 357 speed bunnies are the only ones worth having 🙂

      • Hi jensketch, love the guide and it’s made things A LOT easier for working on this achievement (and leveling pets the old way), however, it’s 6.1 now and getting close to 6.2 (i hope), i don’t know if things have been changed a bit, but, i too am encountering major pain with Major Payne with this pet combo and strat. By the time sticky grenade is launched and minefield is placed Grizzle is already back to full health (basically rendering the rabbit’s prior attacks completely pointless), and just using batter isn’t enough to kill him, even if i kept sticky grenade up, with his stuns it ends up killing the rocket bot and Grizzle still remains at around half health.

        Reply
        • You have to follow the strat to the letter. i.e. if Grizzle is stunning you, you have to start over. You want him to stun the Plushie.

          • ahh okay, the fight info for Major Payne didn’t say to switch to the plushie at any point, that’s probably the missing element that will be the key to success, i’ll give it a shot again after i move out of this hell hole i’m currently living in >.< thanks!

          • Just use 2 P/P Yellow Moths, you only need 1 if you’re lucky, or both if you’re unlucky. I’ve 1 pet Payne many times using P/P Yellow Moth.

  6. Your strat for “Vesharr” doesn’t work, fyi.

        • From another post, this works perfectly

          By cjane (5,146 – 3·9·52) on 2014/11/24 (Patch 6.0.3)
Chrominius (Arcane Explosion, Howl, Surge of Power)
Bronze Whelpling (Arcane Slash, Early Advantage, Arcane Storm)

Open with Chrominius, use Howl on cd and spam Arcane Explosion (it will hit the inactive pets too). When Apexis guardian comes forth use Howl+Surge of Power (Chrominius will die after this).
Switch to whelpling. Use Arcane Storm, then either Early Advantage (if the guardian takes damage as mechanical pet) or Arcane slash (if he takes damage as flying one).
For Darkwing use Arcane Storm and Arcane Slash.

  7. I could not get two rabbits to defeat Jacob, especially since there is no strategy written, just use two rabbits. Might be helpful to add in a strategy.

    Reply
    • It’s the basic use of the Rabbits — Dodge, Burrow, Flurry until they are off Cooldown and just rinse & repeat. I didn’t put specific directions because the fight was so easy with them.

Make sure you’re using S/S Rabbits (the only breed worth using)

  8. So while the Tiny Snowman is good for Kiryn, I didn’t have one and so ran with a Crawling Claw/Blossoming Ancient team. The Ancient with Ironbark, Photosynthesis, and Sunlight is good to eat through Stormeon and Summer; the Crawling Claw throws Nairn into the back line with Agony and Curse of Doom, then gets Agony up on Summer and doodles around a while until it can swap Nairn back in and die. Then the Ancient takes it from there!

  9. you should note that the strat for Sully “The Pickle” McCleary requires a H/B Swamp Croaker. My Croaker is B/B and I failed every time because I kill socks 1 round too early due to the slight power increase in the breed. I tried just skipping a round however the lack of the health of the H/B doesn’t allow for that either.

    Reply
    • You know, that’s interesting because my breed addon showed me that H/B was the only breed available for Swamp Croakers and so I didn’t think a thing of it. Just a blip in the addon I’m sure. I’ll add the info in there!

      Reply
      • It *can* be done with B/B, because I just managed it a few minutes ago. May well not be as reliable, can’t say since I got it first try (not counting mulligan attempt where I flubbed what ability I used and restarted since Goldbloom had RNGed me earlier), but it’s at least technically possible. 😛 My H/B was still 21 from being captured and I decided what the heck and tried it anyhow rather than back out and level a reskin.

  10. Is there going to be a list of alternative pets?

    Reply
    • I don’t see why – most people are pretty capable of seeing what works and figuring out how to adapt to their own teams. Some fights *require* certain pets though (thankfully only a couple).

This is an advanced achievement for advanced pet battlers, there is no reason to pander to anyone here and pretend they don’t know what they’re doing already 🙂

  11. Chen Stormstout’s Brewly makes matters a bit too much luck depending for me.
I tried Skywisp Moth (112) and Waterfly (122), both pets caught in Pandaria & leveled up easily. The moth can evade both Tonsa’s Headbutt and Brewly’s Barrel Toss, so the strategy’s quite straight forward… and leaves room for bad luck.

    • Waterfly is a Draenor pet. 🙂

I am quite sure that with some of the brand new pets out in the last 2 weeks that new strats will become available. None of these are hard, they are just time consuming!

I have teams for the celestials but I did them all as 3 pet teams since I didn’t need to 2-pet them before, so this saved me a huge amount of time. I breezed through 31 of the tamer’s on my first run through and found all of your strategies spot-on.

  14. First of all, you totally rock putting this together … it’s been so helpful! … I beat Sully tonight and was having trouble (didn’t have the breeds you recommended). I ended up going with a HB Mud Jumper, but used tongue lash instead of water jet. I saved my bubble until the rabbit burrowed, and the frog almost solo’d the first 2 pets. For my 2nd pet, I used my Imperial Moth (121). It’s HH, but still fast. I ended the fight with my moth at 80% health, so had a little more wiggle room.

  15. Here’s a couple more corrections:

Gutretch: Alpine Foxling Kit should be 1, 2, 2
Brok: Emperor Crab should be 1, 1, 1

I unfortunately don’t have a P/* Death Adder Hatchling so I had to try something else, here’s one that worked:
Skywisp Moth (P/S): 1, 1, 2 start with cocoon to remove the RNG from stun, call lightning then spam slicing wind, let him fall asleep.
Flayer Youngling (H/S): Rampage will kill Chirps if not triple snap to finish it then two hits on Brewly, Deflect then switch to Moth to take the big hit. Rampage ftw.

One note for Wrathion, sometimes chilling cold is still on, you may have to switch back to the cricket to remove the stacks.

    • Sorry the note about the P/* Death adder was for Chen. With just S/S its REALLY RNG dependent.

      Reply
      • Yeah I just beat Chen for my achievement right now actually and it was no problem or trouble at all. The P/S is ideal here – but it is what I always had and so what I always used. I never cheesed them in PvP 😉

Thanks for the corrections – and I’ve never had a single problem with Wrathion, perhaps it’s a breed issue? That always ends up being the case.

When I got stuck I came here and your steps worked a treat – though I think I couldn’t get the Chen alternate to work well (perhaps a bit of RNG not on my side) so I ended up using Son of Animus and Flayer Hatchling instead and got lucky with their RNG more frequently. TY for the guide. Notes about Vesharr fight – While killing first bird with Familiar, if you end up below around 600 health, forfeit and start over. Second pet never left Mechanical (never switched to bird spec), so I had a bit of trouble with him. Also, for Darkwing you said “Ancient Blessing or Proto-Strike, whichever is off CD or if Darkwing is low enough (and he should be with the Arcane Explosion spam) Emerald Bite until Darkwing is dead”… hope and pray for that “if Darkwing is low enough”, since, if you use Proto Strike (not sure about Ancient Blessing), he uses Anzu’s Blessing and heals almost to full.
Other than those blips, I sailed through most of these. I just had to adjust a little for this guy.

    Reply
    • If you just Arcane Explosion spam with your familiar none of the rest of the fight is an issue. It really depends on crits from the first pet, you gotta kill him with your familiar – I do this every day for leveling and I’ve never had to restart unless that first guy crits 231 a bunch 🙂

For Wrathion I used a rabbit 325 speed and a SS Bonkers. Those 2 were amazing and for CHen I went with a warhead post. I used Chi Chi and Anubisath Idol. Chi Chi constant heals were amazing for the last pet I had to battle.

I saw that you have mentioned some pet alternatives on some battles, I happen to have like 90% of the other pets (at 25 or close), but I miss XT. Can he be replaced by another pet? Thanks a lot in advance!

    Reply
    • That is a good question — I’ll have to go do some testing. I’m sure there are alternatives, I just always try and go for the fastest/efficient answer first.

      • BUMP! Jensketch, I compared the Lil’XT with two other pets that have almost similar abilities, but they are P/P. Its the Personal World Destroyer and the Pocket Reaver. They have both Metal Fist against beasts, instead of Zap and SUpercharge instead of Heartbroken and they both have Quake, which is the same with the Tympanic Tantrum of the XT. Could one of those two work as a replacement for the Lil’XT for us that we dont happen to have him? Thanks a lot again!

  31. Hi,

Many thanks for your excellent guide. I finished the Achievement today! One note regarding the infamous Cymrie Brightblade fight: I tried the Magic Crawdad/Emerald Protowhelp team at least 10 times last night and she pops the rocket every time at the end now. I think the AI’s been fixed since your video because that combo is a no-go. Don’t have an S/S flayer or a mech scorpid yet so I went with a Wowhead suggestion and used Anubishi Idol and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling. Worked first time – maybe I just got lucky, didn’t try again so no idea how reliable it is.

    Reply
    • I put in the Crawdad/Proto-Whelp team because that is a team that Jerebear from Warcraftpets used in beta and it did work (then) but it was never my strat. Mine is the Flayer & Mechanical Scorpid (S/S) which works like a freakin’ charm! 😀 But thanks for the heads up!!

  32. For Taran Zhu you really need a H/S Festering Maggot. I tried with Mr Grubbs, wich is H/P and it doesn’t work, and since P is better than H in this fight (massive use of consume there, so the added power compensates for the loss of health) the H/H will not work either.

    • Umm, the Anubisath Idol takes a lot longer to do this fight with – but you can do it with him. It’s just a long horrible drag. It’s also full of RNG with him, as he MAY not be able to kill Gyrexle. Also of course the Magical Crawdad/Emerald Proto-Whelp strat works too, but has more RNG. Thankfully all these really awful 2 pet fights only have to be done once for Trunks! 🙂

  41. Hey on Ashlei I found its even easier to us Emerald Proto-Whelp. Spamming 1(breath) until the first one dies than hitting emerald dream. Your full health when the plushy switches out and you can go back to spamming 1 until it dies at which point you can actually swap to even a level 1 pet if you really wanted to to finish the fight. Just an excellent fight for leveling.

But ya easy fight just found this is full proof and a fight easily done each day to help level something.

    Reply
    • Nice, I actually used the alternative: start with carry pet( or proto for the plushie ach) swap in proto, breath the first pet dead, ancient blessing first round with the elekk, then proto strike which finishes on the talbuk, breath til talbuk dead, leisurely heal/breath the elekk dead.

  42. Hey there

    Awesome site.

If it’s not too much trouble, could you list all the pets needed for this achievement? Along with how many of the same pet, say if 1 battle requires two of the same pets? And where to find them?

That way I can collect them and level them before venturing into this 🙂

  43. Awesome guide! Thanks!

    A couple notes:

    * You can use your Elekk Plushie defensively. Whenever you’re going to take a big hit, swap him in. And Itchin’ for a Stitchin’ swaps your highest health pet in without losing a turn.

    * For Blingtron 4000, you can use a H/P Amethyst Shale Hatchling. I couldn’t get a P/P, so I tried with a H/P. Works. And ya, it takes a long, long time.

    * For any fight with a beast pet on the backline, I use Lil’ XT. Heartbreaker + Tympanic Tantrum. Wrecks the backline beast, sometimes to the point of a one-shot when it does come out.

    • Nvm. I found another strategy that worked on the 1st try. Used flies > tongue spam until socks rez > then bubbled. The croaker lived long enough to take half of the next pet’s life. Brought in plushie next for like 2 rounds until flies killed the 2nd pet. Brought in the moth and finished off the last pet with moth balls > cocoon > alpha.

      Reply
      • followed it exactly to the letter. The strider doesn’t even survive the sunflower. Most of your other ones are perfect though. Just surprised at how far off the mark you are on Nishi and Major Payne

          • I’ve also been using this strategy for over a year and works every time! You can also use a dancing water skimmer or aqua strider. I start with a carry pet and swap out to the eternal strider and use cleansing rain right away. Changing the weather on the flower is super important.

You can also look for one of the strider pets that has a little more health if you need it. I have a h/s and h/h for my dancing water skimmers and they also seem to do well.

  47. Figured I’d chip in as well, since I’m most of the way done with my achievement now (I is lazy!)… Usual repeat of “Awesome guide, thanks!” etc, and so forth. 😛

Also, you can one-pet Ashlei using a Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, thus enabling you to carry two pets (or a pet and a plushie). Found this strat over on Wowhead courtesy of Tritox (first comment on Ashlei’s page). I swap my two carry pets in on Doodle’s first entrance rather than just the one, switching back to the dragonling on the same turn Ashlei brings in her talbuk. Just drop decoy when the talbuk’s charge comes off cooldown and you’re good to go (dragonling may go down round before that, but it’ll self rez and be just fine). Could just as easily swap the second later on Doodle again later, as you said she’s that easy to beat. 😉

    Again, thanks for the guide!

    • Yeah I make it abundantly clear that Ashlei can be done by almost any pet set up you can make, which is just great! And kind of horrible all at the same time! haha 🙂

Unless I was hallucinating, I followed the directions exactly. My P/P Death Adder Hatchling would die on the turn where she is supposed to Blind. This happened 4 times. I wasn’t stunned by Tonsa so I didn’t need to restart. Is there a specific breed for the Death Adder Hatchling that is required?
